Lucid Dreaming: Risks?
When looking at the "safety" factor of lucidity, a few issues spring to mind.
1. Loss of motivation
Some people argue that lucid dreaming can lead to a person gaining less satisfaction from realty, and the every day life.
This is one of the reasons that Lucid Dreaming is not for everyone, a practised lucid dreamer will understand the clear difference between a dream and reality, and as for the argument of never wanting to wake up, most lucid dreamers find that thier experiences encourage them to lead a more interesting life, rather than give up on it.
2. If i die in a lucid dream, do i die in real life.
This is a theory promoted by modern films and literature, it is not possible for a person to die due to an event that takes place inside a lucid dream, unless perhaps the dreamer suffers from a severe heart condition, in which case he/she should not be taking risks.
3. What if i never wake up?
The same question could be asked for normal dreams, there have been no recorded cases of someone becoming unwillingly trapped inside a lucid dream, after all the whole process is about exerting more control over your sleeping connnciousness, not losing it.
