Lucid Dreaming: Steps Towards Lucid Dreaming awareness
One of the first stages of lucid dreaming is becoming aware of wakefullness and its attributes, this will help you later. when it comes to recognising "dreamsigns".
You should practice this technique a few times a day.
1. Are you awake?
Take a moment to decide if you are awake or dreaming, repeating this step will eventually lead to you practicing the same technique within a dream.
2. What can you hear?
Listen to the sounds of your enviroment, take in everything you hear, whether it be silence or music.
3. What can you see?
Take in colour texture and movement, make a mental note of how realistic these factors are.
4. What can you smell and taste?
Take a moment to think about the smells of your enviroment, and if you are eating something, think about its taste, and if it is the right taste for the food you have in your mouth.
5. Are you breathing?
One common feature of a dream is the lack of need for breathing, unless you are in a aituation that directly requires it, e.g drowning.
Sit calmly and make a mental note of how fast and how deeply you are breathing, also note hw the air feels in your lungs, and if it contains any pollution such as smoke.
6. What do things feel like?
Run your fingers over some different textures, notice that the feeling matches the texture, and also note the temperature of the object, and ponder if this is is how it should be.
7. What are you thinking?
Concentrate on the things that are on your mind, what are you thinking about, and how do these things make you feel?
8. What are you feeling emotionally?
Examine your emotions, what caused you to feel this way, consider the difference between different emotions, is a person or an object linked to a strong emotion?
9. You
And finally be aware that your world includes you, know that without you the world would be different.
Repeating these steps frequently during the day will form a habit, which will later extend int your dreams, the key to becoming aware that you are dreaming is noticing things that are not as they should be, the above technique is a good aid to this.
